Introducing the new love of my life.
Drazic James, our first grandchild.
Born 13th January, 2023.
He has only been with us for 9 days and we have spent already a lovely 5 days with him and of course our gorgeous daughter Jess and her partner Simone.
The brain never ceases to amaze me with how sophisticated it is.
The love is so immediate and the feelings of protection and care. Of course, I felt it already before he was born and the feeling reminds me of the song
"I knew I loved you before I met you"
the savage garden hit.
Just being practical for a moment. We talk a lot about muscle memory in the fitness industry.
When your body and your mind have a memory of an exercise or an activity and even if you have had a break for years, if you go back to that activity or that exercise your body and mind can adjust very quickly. We call that muscle memory.
What I have experienced in the past week is quite
Extraordinary.
My mind and my body have taken me back 39, 37, and 35 years respectively to naturally caring for my own children. Activities that I have not thought about for years.
I did a little 1-day course when our Rachel was a baby (39 years ago) to do baby massage and I massaged our girls when they were babies after their baths.
Yesterday I had the privilege of bathing and giving Drazic his first baby massage and I remembered all the little techniques that I hadn't thought about for years.
I have had a lot to do with babies over the past 35 years. We have 14 great-nieces and nephews. Lots of our friends and extended family have children that we love. We have had a lot of children around us for a lot of years. The difference is that I have not had any responsibility, only some visits babysitting here and there.
The last week has been a whole new experience of love and care and quite literally takes me back over 35 years. Our daughter Jess has been amazing and of course, she has been with us the whole time while we have all helped support her and Simone.
I feel the same feelings right to my core that I had with my own girls 39, 37 and 35 years ago respectively.
I feel so blessed and I cannot wait for what is in store as our little prince grows.
