YAY!! I am feeling freezing.

Updated: Jul 28

I know, I am surprising myself with this STATEMENT.

I hate feeling cold.

We always have at least a few weeks away from the Melbourne winter.

Last year we had 9 beautiful weeks away and 6 of them were in the Europe summer.

So I hear you asking

"WHY ARE YOU SAYING YAY TO FEELING FREEZING?"

I have had the realisation that I have not felt this cold for years and the answer is that I am on the other side of menopause. Post menopausal as the proper term is.

I had to go and buy thermals for my walk.

I am sleeping better and I can concentrate better.

I feel fantastic and when I go through the list of all the symptoms of menopause, it is no wonder it is a time for celebration.

It can be a very challenging time for women. Considering that the average time it can take for a women to go from pre menopause to post menopause is 10 years, it is no wonder that we feel like it is never going to end.

For myself, the hot flushes were the biggest challenge. Reflexology, natropathy and accupunture have all helped me in my journey.

I would be in the middle of a class or working with a one on one client and next minute, without warning I would be bright red, sweating and taking layers off.

I found the best thing for me was to dress in layers and nothing around my neck because this feeling of heating up could be constant throughout the day.

I remember teaching a class of teenage girls and we were just starting to warm up together. All of a sudden I got so hot that I was red and sweating. I could see confusion on their faces.

I think what was going through their minds was "She looks pretty fit but she is already red and sweating. I had to explain that I was in menopause and having a hot flush. Some of them still looked confused.

I was hoping that it would trigger a conversation because I think that it is never too early to know about the cycle of life, especially for women.

The more prepared we can be, the more we can be compassionate and supportive to those around us and prepared for when it is our turn.

MY SLEEP IS BETTER.
I AM FREEZING COLD.
I CAN CONCENTRATE BETTER.
YAY.
LIFE IS GOOD.
LIFE IS GREAT.
