EARLY TO BED AND EARLY TO RISE
MAKES A MAN HEALTHY,
WEALTHY AND WISE.
A great saying but as adults do we really practice what we preach?
I love this very old quote and I think it must have been written for women going through menopause.
When I was going through menopause I realise that I got into a bad habit of not getting enough sleep.
Unfortunately we can get quite used to this but it is definitely not good for our health.
During menopause I seemed to be hot all the time and therefore many times a night I would stir or completely wake up.
Bad sleeping habits is something that creeps up on you.
I have always loved my sleep and of course having 3 children, working sometimes long hours can sometimes be a luxury at times.
It becomes a pattern.....
During menopause.....
I would wake up hot a few times every night....
put the fan on....
and eventually getting back to sleep......
I started getting used to only getting a few hours of good sleep per night.
Anyway..... I started to make more of an effort to get a good nights sleep.
so....
I decided that I would start to get to bed by 9.00pm at least some nights in the week. No excuses and no distractions. I even turned off my phone just in case someone wanted me or texted me just when I got into bed.
so....
Yes I woke up twice hot but tried not to disturb myself too much and went back to sleep.
I feel that our bodies can get out of sink very quickly and adapt to new patterns. When I forced myself to change this pattern and be consistent the new pattern started to become my normal.
Now I have found that this is the first winter for years that I have actually been cold....
OMG it is so cold but I am sleeping well.
A big reason to be grateful.
Menopause is over.....
Sleep is great.....
Amazing......
