10 TIPS TO HELP YOU TO DRINK MORE WATER

WHY IS WATER SO IMPORTANT?

I cannot emphasize enough how important water is.
SOME FACTS ABOUT WATER.
  • Only oxygen is more important than water for sustaining life.

  • An adult body consists of between 45 & 65% water.

  • Our brain is made up of 74% water.

  • Water is involved in the digestive process and the elimination of waste products.

  • Water lubricates joints and eyes and helps to regulate our temperature.


Do you ever suffer from chronic joint pain, asthma, allergies, headaches, fatigue, heartburn, poor concentration, constipation or bad breath?

According to research all of these could be a result of a lack of fluids. Not just any fluids, but water in particular.



Many people think that if they drink soft drink, juice, tea or coffee it it ok.

Many people also go out and drink alcohol and don’t drink water at all.

All fluids with caffeine or alcohol in them can make you dehydrated not hydrated.

Don’t wait until you have a dry mouth, or feel thirsty because this could mean you are already dehydrated.


TEN WAYS TO HELP YOU DRINK MORE WATER.

  1. Put lemon or lime slices in a jug of water in the fridge to add more flavour to the water. The longer the lemon and lime sits there, the better the flavour. You can also add some fresh ginger or some mint.

  2. Add hot water to either of the above especially if you don’t like drinking cold drinks in winter.

  3. Keep a drink bottle of water handy. At your desk at work, in your handbag or in your car.

  4. Put a jug of water on the table at meal times, especially if you are drinking alcohol or coffee.

  5. Order a glass of water with every cup of coffee or alcoholic drink; this will cut down the intake of other drinks when you are out.

  6. Offer a chilled glass of water when you make a friend a cup of tea or coffee.

  7. Buy some stylish, good looking water jugs and glasses that you will enjoy drinking your water out of.

  8. In summer, freeze a bottle of water overnight so your water stays cold for longer during the day.

  9. Get into the habit of drinking a glass of water as soon as you wake up in the morning.

  10. If you are waiting for the kettle to boil have a quick glass of water.
