5 Years on and very grateful.

I want to speak to you about a very important issue.

OUR SKIN AND THE HEALTH OF OUR SKIN.

I wanted to share my video from 2 years ago.

My story starts 5 years ago.....

when I first had a problem with my top lip.

We always have our skin cancer checked each year so I was lucky that this problem was picked up early.

My lips were always dry and it did not matter how much moisturiser I would use on my lips they would peel and feel dry and itchy.

I had my routine skin cancer check and it was recommended to me to have a procedure to burn off the pre cancerous cells that had been found on my top lip.

The procedure is called PDT (Photodynamic Therapy). The procedure is to burn off the pre-cancer cells. The theory is that the new lip that grows back is cancer-free. It is very painful procedure and even with a local aesthetic, it was still painful. I had to keep my lip covered whenever I went outside, drink with a straw and eat very soft food for the first few days.

The body is amazing though as it heals very quickly and before long I had a new healthy top lip that had replaced the old lip.

3 years later, so 2 years ago I had the same problem with my bottom lip. I knew straight away that I had to get it checked because I had the same symptoms as I had with the top lip. I was booked in to have the bottom lip done 2 years ago during covid and during the lockdown. I was lucky that they deemed the procedure necessary and it wasn't delayed.

I feel very grateful that my lips are healthy and I don't have any problems with them now. I hope that I have prevented surgery that would have been a lot worse and could have left me with scarring.

My message is.....

please check your skin once a year and pick up any changes early....

The hope is that treating anything early will prevent any long-term problems.

My lip is still healing in this video.

I am very lucky with the results.
